International music, flamenco, rap, pop and ballads, the annual September fiestas in Calasparra has it all!!
After two years of virtual confinement Calasparra is ready to celebrate (safely, of course) and the Town Hall has launched a preview of what we can expect!
The local Sanctuary marks the 25th anniversary of the canonization of Our Lady of Hope which coincides with the traditional “Romero” (pilgrimage) which traditionally forms part of the fiestas.
The opening speech is in the hands of the former Mayor of Calasparra, José Veléz, and precedes a concert the Sanctuary Square by the Association Band of Music.
The traditional torchlight Rosario will be held this year and the 15th edition of River of Music will star Zenet. Entrance will be free of charge.
An ample cultural programme for the first week of of the September fiestas includes the International Folklore Festival with the participation of groups from Murcia and Paraguay.
The traditional Fishing Competition will also take place this year.
Concerts include pop group Marlon and local band Atientas; the rapper Kaze; the Calasparrian group Stylzero; and the international star, India Martinez.
A comedy night on September 5 will feature Comandante Lara.
For the little ones there will be a Grand Children´s Park, MultiAdventure, in the town centre with inflatables, sports trials, music and lots of surprises.
There will also be performances by Cantajuegos from the Circo del Payaso Tallarín (Tallarin Clown Circus) and the famous ventriloquest, Pilar & Pili Piloncha.
Presenting this preview of the programme the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, said she hoped all local residents and visitors would enjoy the programme in “this great week in our town, and that we can enjoy these fiestas in the best way, maintaining respect for the Covid-19 virus which remains amongst us.”
