CHANGES TO TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS SYSTEM FOR GPs

The regional health service in Murcia has changed the way patients make appointments with their GP by telephone from January 1, 2012.
Alternatively, patients call make appointments on the Internet or by going to reception at the Health Centre.
The new automated telephone system means patients can make an appointment at any time of the night or day and any day of the week, says Manuel Escudero, Sub Director of the new system.
The new system, which is active 24 hours a day from Monday to Sunday, is currently functioning alongside the old 902 number, however, the old number will cease to function from January 1.
The caller should have their NIE/NIF number ready to enter via the keyboard. Once the machine identifies the patient the next free appointment will be offered with the option of another date if the one offered is not convenient.
