British estate agents are already using the proposed new Paramount theme park in Alhama, Murcia, as a selling point for properties in Spain, according a spokesperson for the Association of Promoters.
Even though work on the new theme park has not yet started José Hernández, claims the theme park has “mobilized demand” for properties over the last few months.
He added that in contrary to expectations the lower rate if VAT( IVA in Spain) approved by the Socialist Government t in August had not lead to increased sales in the last three months of the year.
Estate Agents sites on the Internet already offer videos which Paramount used for its official presentation of the project. In addition to information about the urbanizations with houses for sale and golf courses the estate agents offer details of the theme park and the type of attractions which will be available.
Paramount anticipates some three million people will visit the park every year.
In spite of the financial crisis more houses, some 4,350 , were sold to buyers from the UK in 2010 than any other country, according to the Association of Promoters.
Last year some 8,312 properties were sold in the region of Murcia but this year the Association predicts: “We won´t even reach 5,000.” In 2009 some 13,000 houses were sold in spite of the crisis but this year “there are not new houses being built as we are selling from stock,” added Hernández.
