A Calasparrian man, who has dedicated his life to fighting the cause for disabled people in Spain, has been awarded the Gold Cross of Social Solidarity by central Government.
Luis Cayo Pérez Bueno, President of the Spanish Committee of Representatives for Disabled People (CERMI) will receive the award from the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality for his work and commitment to the rights and social inclusion of people with disabilities.
Luis Cayo was born in Calasparra and spearheaded the social movement for people with disabilities since 1995 is currently the President of CERMI, the platform for action, representation and defence for people with disabilities and their families.
He will receive the award next spring when the Queen of Spain will preside over a ceremony in the Zarzuela Palace.
