Some 70% of the population of Spain will be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the course of this summer, claims the Minister of Health, Caroline Darias today.
The increase in doses of the vaccine delivered this week and the prospect of 300,000 doses of the new Janssen (which only requires a single dose) on April 15 led the Minister to claim the goal of 70% was “at our fingertips.”
According to the forecasts Spain will receive 5.5 million vials of Janssen between April and June, plus eight million doses of Pfizer, in addition to the 1.2 million already received this week-
“It´s a great week,” exclaimed the Minister, we are on the road to a collective immunity.”
The Minister also advised caution in the light of an increase in contagions which may signal a fourth wave of the virus.
She claims the majority, some 77%, of over 80´s have been vaccinated by at least one dose.
