FREE DISPOSAL OF AGRICULTURAL PRUNINGS

Now is the time most farmers and smallholders prune the olive and fruit trees and the branches are mounting up as the regional government of Murcia has banned burning agricultural waste.
The problem has been growing as the mountains of branches, a source of plagues for the orchards, are in evidence everywhere.
Now the Calasparra Town Hall has come up with a solution. They will provide free skips to accommodate the prunings.
Antonio Merino, spokesperson for the Town Hall said: “This is not within our competence but faced with the failure of the regional government to act we feel obliged to offer a free service to our farmers to avoid plagues which threaten their crops.”
The prunings disposed of in the containers will be ground up.
The skips will be in front of the Daya Salones Monday to Sunday, excluding Tuesdays, from 10am to 2pm and from 4pm to 7pm.
These containers may only be used for prunings and will be monitored to ensure their correct use.
