HISTORIC VICTORY FOR THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY IN SPAIN

Calasparra has joined the wave of blue that has engulfed the Spanish peninsular as the Conservative Partido Popular swept to victory at the General Elections yesterday with an absolute majority.
Voting in Calasparra was brisk as some 5780 people exercised their democratic rights and the municipal logged the highest voter percentage in Spain. Five percent more people voted in the region of Murcia than in any other region on the peninsular.
The PP won in all 45 municipal areas in the region of Murcia logging 704 votes more than the ruling PSOE in Calasparra. Regionally the PP unseated a PSOE representative at regional level.
In 2008 the PSOE Socialist party won the General Elections in Calasparra, Bullas and Moratalla.
Yesterday the PP logged 44.62% of the votes nationally which translates to 186 representatives and the PSOE logged 28.73% with 110 representatives.
The PSOE in Calasparra logged the highest vote in the region with 38.8% of the vote. Some 51.4% of voters in Calasparra voted for the PP which has improved the results of the municipal elections by gaining 400 more votes and 700 more than the PSOE.
