LIGHTING UP CHRISTMAS IN CALASPARRA

Christmas has been a subdued affair this year as many of us have been unable to unite with our loved ones to celebrate these festive days.
In Calasparra the Town Hall sends us a message of responsibility and solidarity in these difficult times as they wish us all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The light of peace from Bethlehem arrived at the Merced Catholic Church and was shared amongst worshippers.
The Light of Peace is an initiative from the Scouts and Guides of Austria, with Guide and Scout groups all over the world, to share the light, lit by a child from Austria every year in the cave “of the Birth of Christ” in Bethlehem.
On Christmas Eve at 8.30pm the Town Hall invited residents to light up the  night sky with torches and lanterns and sent up a drone to photograph the event.
And Christmas would not be the same without Santa Claus and, within strict Covid-19 protocols, he did not disappoint the children of Calasparra this year bringing presents for all in Cine Rosales.
And a message of hope this Christmas: the latest news is there were no new cases of Covid-19 in Calasparra, as of December 23, with nine active cases.
Keep well and stay safe!!
