More rain has fallen in Calasparra over the past 12 hours than any other part of the region of Murcia, according to regional TV Channel 7.
According to the Met Office and the regional Water Board some 30 litres of rain per square metre has fallen in our area.
The torrential rain is predicted to continue until late afternoon today, Friday, and readers are warned to be extremely careful and follow this advice:
Avoid leaving the house unless absolutely necessary.
Close doors and windows in your home.
Unplug any electrical domestic appliances in order to avoid overloading the system
In the country keep away from trees, lampposts and other metal objects
On the road reduce your speed and make sure you have good visibility
