Tomorrow, Friday August 28, has been nominated Big Bargain Day by the local Chamber of Commerce as shops and stores all over Calasparra offer big discounts all day.
According to the Chamber of Commerce the move aims to replace the Outlet Market traditionally held between seasons but which has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
“This year local shops have noted the decrease in tourism but has been able to count on the support of residents,” said a spokesperson.
Predicting a difficult season the spokesperson went on to ask for specific help for local traders and says “we hope no-one will have to close their business.”
A reduction or elimination of taxes and charges by the Town Hall was one way to support local businesses, she added.
The Chamber of Commerce is working with the Town Hall to introduce a platform for online sales and discount coupons. They are also working on an app to improve competitiveness and accessibility through electronic commerce.
