The period of high risk for forest fires begins on Monday June 1 under the banner: A Little Carelessness Causes Big Fires.
The campaign by the Forestry Commission of Murcia appeals to residents:
Not to leave objects that may cause a fire in the countryside.
Not to throw matches or cigarette ends on the ground.
Not to light fires and maintain extreme caution.
Only light authorized fires.
If you see something dangerous or careless that may cause or has caused a fire, call 112.
The Government Advisor has also authorized 31 pairs of volunteer vigilantes, two more than last year, forming a mobile unit between June 16 and September 15 in the 34 municipal areas of the region as part of the Special Plan for the Emergency Civil Protection for forest fires (Plan Infomur) in Murcia. Some 500 operatives form part of the plan.
