Fernando Simón, the Director of the Coordination Centre for Alerts and Health Emergencies, has explained that a new system for monitoring the coronavirus means more reliable and more realistic data.
Under the new system the delay between the date when symptoms start and the diagnosis has reduced from seven to 14 days to only four days.
This new method of collecting data also means statistics are being published for the previous 24 hours and, today at least, there are no statistics are available for those who have recovered
