The President of
Spain, Pedro Sánchez, will be asking Congress to approve a one month extension
of the State of Alarm,
During the further month the conditions on freedom of movement, businesses and
shops reopening etc. will gradually be relaxed until Spain reaches the “new
normality” on June 24.
Sanchez will have to negotiate with other parties in order to gain enough votes
for the extension. The main opposition party, the PP, and extreme right wing
VOX, have already stated they will not support the move. However, the last
extension of the State of Alarm was approved without the support of these two parties.
