Yesterday was Mental Health Day and a time to
remember that one person in the world commits suicide every forty seconds and
in Spain 10 people commit suicide every day.
The theme of Mental Health Day is prevention: “40 seconds to act. Connect with
Life:” a reference to the number of suicides, and to those who are close to
people affected, to support them.
The date also raises the profile of those affected by mental health problems, which
are often invisible, and which deny health and wellbeing to sufferers and can lead
to physical medical problems.
