A multitude of appliances and firefighters have been called to a fire near the Cenajo damn, which has quickly spread to trees on the river banks, and which started at around 6.25pm this evening (Friday).
Air and land forces were called to assist extinguish the blaze in El Chopillo area near Cenajo, Moratalla.
The flames spread quickly and dangerously to pine forests and the riverbanks requiring the assistance of two helicopters, two helitransporters, a plane, an additional helicopter from the Alberquilla base and four fire brigades including Calasparra.
The fire started in a «high risk» area where a previous fire, on July 7 this year, ravaged 1,000 sq meters.
On July 2 another forest fire was reported in Moratalla affecting two hectares of land in the Sierra del Buitre.
