When officers of the Guardia
Civil stopped to assist an accident in the Carretera Mula, Calasparra, they
ended up making an arrest for drugs trafficking and a drugs seizure.
An early morning patrol stopped to help a car, which appeared to have had an
accident and was stationary at the side of the road, causing a dangerous obstruction
for other road users. However, while they were assisting the occupants with a mechanical
failure and directing traffic they noticed a strong smell of marijuana.
When they searched the boot of the car they found 267 grams of cannabis sativa
and 105 euros, divided into small quantities.
A youth, aged 20, Spanish and resident of Murcia, travelling in the car as a passenger,
admitted ownership of the drugs and cash and was arrested on suspicion of
trafficking drugs.
He appeared before magistrates in Caravaca.
