The Met Office has issued an Orange weather warning for the Vega de Segura
and the Antiplano, which includes Calasparra, for temperatures of 40C and over
on Saturday and Sunday.
Predictions also include the possibility of storms and strong winds on Saturday
between 2 and 9pm.
Saturday will be hot, around 40C, but temperatures are likely to be even higher
on Sunday. There should be some respite on Monday when temperatures are
expected to fall by 7 or 8 degrees centigrade.
As always readers are advised not to work outside or practice sport or exercise
during the hottest parts of the day but rather stay out of sun.
Generally temperatures are lower before midday and after 6pm although readers should
continue to take the usual precautions: avoid alcohol and coffee; drink plenty
of water; wear loose, comfortable clothing, a hat, sunglasses and sun
protection of 50 or over.
If you feel unwell after exposure to the sun, go somewhere cool, drink plenty
of water and, if symptoms persist, go to your GP, the Emergency Department in
Calasparra or call 112 for an ambulance.
Please remember to take these precautions and stay safe in the sun.
