REPORTS THAT UNITED LEFT WILL SUPPORT NAVARRO AS MAYOR ARE FALSE

Regional newspaper reports that the United Left of Calasparra will support the investiture of the Socialist Jesus Navarro as Mayor are false, declared Ricardo Garcia on Radio Calasparra this morning.
The newspaper, La Verdad, also reports today that the United Left had decided not to “enter the government team.”
“I am surprised and angered by the report. I need to speak to the newspaper to find out why they have invented things and why this journalist has misreported what I said”, said Ricardo, “I have said nothing about supporting Navarro or anyone else.”
Ricardo pointed out that the United Left held a meeting with the Partido Popular last night where the party representatives “discussed the same issues as with the PSOE.”
“”We have a good relationship with everyone and we have policies in common with both parties. We believe good relations between the parties are essential in the interests of Calasparra.”
However, the United Left Coordinator stressed that no decision on the form of the future government of Calasparra had been taken by his party which will hold an assembly of members tomorrow evening.
“We may decide on a position or we may decide to continue talking to the other parties,” he said, “there is still time before June 11 to continue negotiating and we may have need to hold another assembly of the party before that date.”
For his part Jesus Martinez, leader of the Partido Popular, reported that the meeting with the United Left last night had been “very agreeable.”
He said: “Nothing has been agreed or discounted and our door remains open. It is clear the people of Calasparra have voted for change but we don´t hold the key. However, in one way or another we will be working for change.”
