Two local primary schools are joining the fight against childhood obesity by joining the campaign to promote an appetite for fruit and vegetables in young children.
The Esperanza and Pedreras Primary Schools are taking part in the Programme for the Distribution of Fruit and Vegetables in the Schools of the Region of Murcia which begins on Monday. As one part of the programme free fruit and vegetables will be distributed among the pupils on certain days of the week.
The initiative is jointly financed by the regional government of Murcia and the European Union and is a part of a campaign to encourage healthy eating from an early age.
