The Council of Ministers has announced a series of measures to impulse the sales of electric cars including grants to cover up to 25% of the purchase price and cheap nocturnal electricity rates for recharging them.
Some 72 million euros for grants of up to 6,000 euros towards the cost of an electric car aims to give the industry a massive boost and replaces the former system of grants which had limited success mainly due to the high price of the vehicles.
New “electrolineras,” where drivers can recharge the cars, will be created and by recharging the cars between 1am and 7am drivers will be able to benefit from the cheapest nocturnal tariffs.
