| If you are shopping in the January sales make a list, compare prices and keep all receipts. This is just some of the advice and the local Municipal Consumer Rights Office has issued for residents planning to take advantage of the New Year sales. Consumer Rights also advises shoppers to estimate the amount they can afford to spend; make a list of necessities and avoid impulse buying. All sales items must show the original price and the sales price or the amount of the discount. Beware of hand written labels. A price reduction (rebaja) is not the same as a sale (saldo) ítem. Reductions must retain the same quality and the product must be exactly the same as before the price was reduced. Check any conditions “special conditions” for prices and returning items of individual shops. Keep all receipts, as they are necessary to return items or complain and maintain the guarantee. The guarantee of products which will buy in the sales have the same periods of guarantee as the rest of the year: two years on new items and one year on second hand items. Shoppers are reminded there are complaints forms in all shops and stores or complaints can be made through any Consumer Rights Service. The Municipal Consumer Rights Service is on the ground floor of the Town Hall. Readers are reminded if they don´t speak Spanish to take an interpreter. |
