MAYOR IS PROUD OF EASTER IN CALASPARRA

There were magnificent processions in Calasparra, thanks to the hard work of the religious brotherhoods, which attracted bigger crowd than ever in the streets.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, has reviewed Semana Santa 2018 with “great satisfaction”: both for the processions and for the support of the general public.
All the statues of the various brotherhoods were able to take part in the processions this year: a far cry from previous years when there weren´t enough volunteers to carry the thrones.
“As far as the Town Hall is concerned it has been a great Easter week and we are very proud of all the people who have worked so hard to create the processions. These processions have an important cultural, traditional, religious and economic impact which must be appreciated,” commented the Mayor.
On Sunday April 8 the statue of Ecce Homo will leave Calasparra at 10.30am in a procession which ends in a mass at the chapel on the Valentin Road. The OAPs music group, the Rondalla, will accompany the procession.
