The novelty this year for anyone required to fill in Income Tax returns in Spain (Impuesto sobre la Renta) is that the whole process can be completed on the Internet.
From Monday April 4 a new system of Income Tax returns for 2010 has been introduced which shortcuts the standard “Tax Form”. Contributors do not need to wait for the old tax form to arrive and can simply go to the webpage of the Agencia Tributaria (Tax Office) enter their NIF (or NIE), enter the figure declared last year in the box 698 and provide a telephone number in order that the Tax Office can send a “reference number.”
Once the contributor has received this reference number he/she will be able to access all relevant tax data and can confirm whether their income has varied or was the same during the last tax year.
The final date for the declaration of Income Tax for 2010 is June 27, 2011. Declarations can also be made by telephone (901 200 345/901 121 224) or in person at the Agencia Tributaria which is in the SEF Office in Gran Via.
