GOVERNMENT DELEGATE IN OFFICIAL VISIT TO CALASPARRA

Today the Government Delegate for the Murcia region, Rafael González Tovar and the Mayor of Calasparra, Jesús Navarro Jiménez, officially inaugurated four projects funded by the central Government Plan E funds.
After a press conference at the Town Hall the official party travelled to Valentin to open the first phase of the restoration Works on the local church. The building, formerly privately owned but now property of the Town Hall, will be adapted as a cultural social centre.
Next the party went on to the Municipal Sports Pavillion where the changing rooms and sports area have been improved and the building has been rendered energy efficient.
Energy efficiency was also the theme of the last two projects, in the Textiles area and the Casa Granero and the Universidad Popular.
The Mayor of Calasparra told the press conference that the energy efficiency work carried out in public housing and public buildings would save 40 to 60% of fuel costs, some 3 to 400,000 euros a year.
He also noted that 18 different companies had been contracted to carry out work on the 18 projects and most of those were from Calasparra.
González Tovar explained that Calasparra has received more than 2.9 million euros from state funds between 2009 and 2010. Some 29 projects had been funded, some 280 employment posts created and two social fund projects which would benefit 850 people.
