THINK EVERY TIME YOU TURN ON THE TAP

Today is World Water Day and we are being encouraged to think about the water we use and use it responsibly:
While millions of people in the world do not have direct  access to drinking water, the rest of the world abuse it. Today we are invited to reflect on this and think every time we turn on the tap.
There are cu8rrently 700 million people who do not have drinking water supplies near their home. Every day they hve to search for clean water and risk drinking contaminated supplies.
Water covers  71% of the earth’s surface but  only 2.8% is fresh water and 90% is in the form of glaciers. Only one percent is suitable for hu8man consumption.
We are encouraged to reduce the water we use and not to contaminate it by disposing of  chemicals such as oils, paints, strong cleaning products etc in the drains.
To mark World Water Day there will be a talk and documentary film on the River Segura called “The River with Life,” organised by the Life+Segura Riverlink Project and the Segura Water Board, in the Aula de Cultura of CajaMurcia in Gran Via Salzillo 23, Murcia, on Wednesday March 22 at 8pm.
