Secondary Schools will prepare a guide to raise awareness of the importance of caring for and protecting the ribbon forests along the river Banks for older primary school pupils and first year secondary.
The schools, in Cieza and Calasparra, amongst others, will hold workshops over the next two year, aimed to emphasize the problems created for the natural environment if these ribbon forests disappear.
The project is part of the an initiative by the European funded Life Ripisilvanatura, coordinated by the Segura Water Board.
Part of the project will be to control invasive species on the river banks and encourage the growth of indigenous trees along the river banks.
