The neighbours and residents of Valentin and Cehegin are celebrating a victory over the rubbish dump in the skirts of the Sierra del Puerto as the application to expand the site is archived.
Although, it is still not clear what affect this decision will have on the existing permissions and licences, the move by the Department of Water, Agriculture and the Environment effectively prevents the dump being expanded or developed.
The Town Halls of Cehegin and Calasparra have joined the protests by local residents against the dump which is sited near to the Argos Reservoir on the skirts of the Sierra del Puerto.
