February 2 has been designated International Wetlands Day and as part of a full programme of events to mark the occasion there will be a guided walk through the Cañaverosa Nature Reserve, Calasparra.
Wetlands (Humedades in Spanish) are defined as areas of the earth which are covered in water, either seasonally or permanently, which form a natural defence against extremes of weather.
The visit to Cañaverosa will be to “discover one of the most significant and best preserved wetlands in the Murcia region. The visit will be between 9.30am and 1pm. Further details will be published on this webpage when they are available.
There will also be a photography competition for young people between the ages of 18 and 25 years with an opportunity to win a visit to an international wetland. More information on www.worldwetlandsday.org/es.
