These were the words the Head of the Department of Agriculture used to describe the famous Calasparra rice when he visited the paddy fields this week.
He was joined by the Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, and members of the local council, which manages the product.
The 1,000 hectares of paddy fields include areas of Calasparra, Moratalla and Hellin, which form part of the basin of the rivers Segura and Mundo.
The rice is an ecological product which received the Denomination of Origin in 1986.
The average annual production is three million tons.
