MOTORWAY VENTA DE OLIVAS TO CARAVACA EVER CLOSER

The regional government has voted to support plans to join the Lorca motorway with the Venta del Olivo (A-30) travelling through Caravaca de la Cruz and  Calasparra.
The former Mayor of Calasparra and regional socialist councillor,  Jesús Navarro, demanded an additional stretch of motorway from the Venta de Olivas and Jumilla.
“We are voting in favour because we understand that it is just that we that we have these infrastructures. But we want the project to be funded by public money,” he said.
The regional government considers that the motorway betrween Caravaca and Venta de Olivas is “a basic infrastructure” which will bring social, touristic and economic benefits to the North East of the region. But there are also road safety issues: “We don´t want more people to die on this road.”
The first 20 kilometres between Caravaca and Calasparra will cost 85 million euros and the second part, 23 kilometres uniting Calasparra with the motorway to Madrid, will cost a further 81 millions.
